Hello,

me and my husband have decided to buy a dog. We have children, one aged 6 and the other 11 who would love to have a new friend to play with.

We are looking for help and advice on how we should go about getting a dog and which kind, seeing as neither of us have owned one in the passed we are some what in the dark about this.

Things we need to know is should we buy a puppy or adopt one? Which kind? what type of food, toys and sleeping area would the puppy need? We have a garden, at what age would he be allowed to play outside? What kind of doctor checks are needed?

If any one has experience with owning a dog any information would be much appreciated!
